While i'd be a total hypocrite to say cut your hair you could just tie it back?

Dieselmonkey on this forum has very long hair but he ties it back and keeps it in a high ponytail under his m43/beret/helmet or plaits it and puts it down the back of his shirt.

Most people never notice he's got long hair.

Mine until recently was pretty long but i have an undercut shaved to a no1 or 2 usually so nobody notices either....

Yeah, that. I always feel a complete dick trying to be accurate as I can with my uniform gear, but then having long hair at the back.

I've found that by plaiting it from right at the top and back of my head, it will coil and easily fit inside a large crown beret with nothing sticking out. Whilst it wouldn't pass a close inspection, it looks fine from a distance, and makes me feel more comfortable and at least vaguely 'soldierly' looking.

*EDIT* in fact, my avatar photo is showing me doing just that.

Apologies for the post war pic here but its the only one i could find on this machine that shows how well DMs methos hides long hair given that this is part way through the second day of an event...

I too have extremely long hair (down to my arse!) and I tie it back and hide it down the back of my clothing. To hide the length of hair from the back of my head to where my collar starts, I either wear a scrim veil/scarf (WW2 British type) or a period British brown wool balaclava (this option looks very unfashionable, but very period! - as a 'German', try using one of those grey 'snood'-type things that they had)

Yeh I would hid it under the ski cap but I got it abit too small so it's tight enough

As for down the back of my shirt, it wouldn't want to stay there lol has a mind of it's own sometimes

I do this too with my German kit. With my US Airborne stuff a para scarf comes in handy but I may have to resort to tying it up for a basic GI.

same day, but I did Polish Para' in the morning (in honour of those further south on that day ).

I'd have used the Sten, but Anzio have a single shot only rule in buildings, which makes the Sten tricky.
